The draft syllabi for the first semester of the 19 four-year undergraduate programs were approved by Delhi University’s Standing Committee on Academic Matters on Wednesday, despite four members voting against the proposal. The National Education Policy (NEP) and the four-year undergraduate programs (FYUP) will be implemented starting with the academic year 2022–2023 with approval from the institution. The draft Undergraduate Curriculum Framework (UGCF), created in accordance with the NEP, was approved by the university’s Executive Council (EC) in February for the 2022–2023 academic year.

The Standing Committee of Delhi University has approved the draft syllabi created by 19 departments, according to Balaram Pani, Dean of Colleges at DU. He stated that in the upcoming days, further course syllabi will be passed. “In the upcoming three to four days, we want to pass the course syllabi through the Standing Committee. In the upcoming 15 days, we will complete the FYUP first semester syllabus “Pani threw in.

It will be presented to the Academic Council (AC) and the Executive Council after being approved by the Standing Committee. Rajesh Kumar, Biswajit Mohanty, Kumar Shantanu, and Nidhi Kapoor, four committee members, objected to the resolution. The members who dissented called attention to the “procedural error of allowing inadequate time for minute observation” of the curricula of 19 disciplines. The members argued that it would be a “futile endeavor” to focus just on the first-semester syllabi’s substance.

They said that it would be difficult to remark on the discrepancies, overlaps, continuity, or discontinuity of papers in the following semesters without looking at the papers from all four years. Apart from this, the members noticed that there was a widespread concern among the representatives about a loss of rigor and dilution of content that was not effectively addressed by the authorities.
