More British Columbia students will have the chance to study abroad thanks to a new agreement with the governments of the states of Jalisco and Guanajuato.

With the signing of two memorandums of understanding (MOU) between the Ministries of Advanced Education and Skills Training, Education and Child Care, and Jalisco and Guanajuato, the Province is strengthening academic ties between Mexico and British Columbia.

According to Anne Kang, Minister for Advanced Education and Skills Training, “the exchange of post-secondary students, educators, and ideas between British Columbia and Mexico encourages innovation, which supports economic and social development for both areas.” “I appreciate the BC Council for International Education for establishing this cooperation, and I am looking forward to the advantages that growing student and faculty engagement will bring to our province and the states of Mexico.”

Following the signing of the MOUs, the province and the states of Mexico should work on creating possibilities for international student exchange, reciprocal study assignments in schools and post-secondary institutions, as well as institutional collaborations. The agreements facilitate information sharing between institutions about quality control, student and teacher exchanges, and educational policies.

According to Jennifer Whiteside, minister of education and early childhood development, “by signing the first two K-12 education MOUs between B.C. and Mexico, more students may obtain new life experiences and build intercultural skills via their studies in a different nation.” “The agreements with Mexico expand on our arrangements with other nations and show a shared commitment to giving students chances to learn and live in new locations, while they also bring priceless and enduring advantages to host families, schools, and communities,” the statement reads.

The education minister of Guanajuato, Jorge Enrique Hernández Meza, declared: “Guanajuato counts on global cooperation and collaboration to develop the ability of students and instructors. The partnership with the Canadian government and the province of B.C. will enable us to maintain creating the finest chances for the Guanajuato academic community, fostering talent development, expanding mind-manufacturing, and advancing ethical educational practices.

“We fulfill people’s hopes via education, and if we have affiliated institutions in other nations, we may go beyond them. For a competitive, innovative, and global environment that gives our students and instructors the best possibilities for their growth in Guanajuato, Mexico, and the rest of the world, we have invested in international collaboration and the creation of value partnerships in Guanajuato.
