The Center for People in Need aids people in getting technical credentials in order to secure a profession in the field. The Center for People has just launched an EduTech Google Certificate program. Certificates in four areas of study are available, ranging from data analytics and IT support to project management and user experience design.
Google has given the Center for People in Need 300 certificate scholarships to be delivered over the following three years. According to the organizer of EduTech, some companies regarding the qualifications to be equivalent to a bachelor’s degree.
Participants choose one of four qualifications to work on at their own pace.
“EduTech is based on two things: an ARPA grant from the city of Lincoln, which basically pays for me and any more students who join the program,” EduTech coordinator Katherine Najjar noted. “They receive child care discounts, transportation vouchers, and we send food boxes every week, for which they are also entitled.” We provide them with a room full of free household and personal supplies. They are also welcome to utilize our computer lab.”
To qualify for EduTech, participants must earn at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty line, be 18 years old or older, be legally permitted to work in the United States, and be able to read English.
